Kevin Michael Richardson also joins 'Family Guy' spinoff FOX's "Family Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show" has filled out its cast, adding a voice-over pro and a couple of fairly well-known actresses to its roster. |
Filed under: OpEd, Family Guy, Casting, Reality-FreeA few more voices have been added to the cast of the Family Guy spin-off, The Cleveland Show. The voice of the main character will still be provided by Mike Henry, who also gets an executive producer credit on the show.Kevin Richardson from The Cleaner is voicing the character of Lester, a redneck neighbor of Cleveland. Interestingly, Mike Henry is a white man voicing an African-American while Richardson is African-American voicing a white man. Also joining the cast is Sanaa Lathan who will play Cleveland's love interest Donna and Nia Long (pictured) who will play one of Donna's children, a rebellious teen named Roberta.I suppose the success of this show will depend on the execution of it. It has to be similar enough to Family Guy to not alienate those fans but different enough to spark an interest. Cleveland Brown never struck me as a character who could carry his own show but maybe I'll be proven wrong. Permalink | Email this | | Comments |
Ellen DeGeneres will be dancing down the aisle now that a Califor nia court has over turned a ban on gay marriage. A decade after com ing out of the closet on a daytime talk show, DeGeneres, 50, told her studio audi ence yesterday that she and longtime girl friend Portia de Rossi would waste no time in tying the knot. "So, I would like to say now, for the first time, I am an nouncing: I am get ting married," she said. "We wanted it to be legal and we're just very, very excited." After the audience gave her a standing ovation, DeGeneres quipped: "Thank you. I'll tell you who the lucky guy is soon." Both DeGeneres and de Rossi, who was sitting in the audience, seemed choked up as Ellen broke the news of their betrothal. De Rossi, who has been with DeGeneres since 2004, has appeared on "Ally McBeal," "Nip/ Tuck," and "Arrested Development." Ellen did not reveal any other details, but Justin Timberlake, a guest on the show, promised to write a song for the happy couple and per form it at the wedding. One thing is clear: Ellen is not the type to elope - at least not if her belated 50th birthday party yesterday was any indication. The carnival-themed bash, complete with Ferris wheel, was held on the Warner Bros. back lot for 600 celebrity friends, and DeGeneres seemed overcome as Pink performed and Ryan Seacrest emceed. DeGeneres told the world she was gay in 1997 on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and, not long afterward, her sitcom character on the show "Ellen" followed suit. The coming-out episode of "Ellen" was the peak of the show's ratings, which went on to address gay-rights issues before being canceled a year later. It was the first sitcom with a gay lead character. Although DeGeneres was lauded for these efforts, conservatives soon put her in the cross-hairs. Jerry Falwell called her "Ellen DeGenerate," to which the comedian replied: "Really, he called me that? Ellen DeGenerate? I've been getting that since the fourth grade." Although she has previously dated Anne Heche |
